3 Tips for Decorating Your Garage Door This Holiday Season

There are many things you can do during the holiday season with your garage. You can clean it, decorate it and dedicate some time in it in organizing it properly. Since we all have free time during the holidays, Overhead garage door provider will give you some tips on what to do with your garage.

Water - Sun - Salt

It is very important to protect vital parts of the garage door from water such as. wheels, inner hinges, engine guide and the engine itself, which contains electronics that are very sensitive to water (moisture). It is advisable not to expose the door panel to direct sunlight. The panel bends in the sun, expands and can damage the door if we lift such a door with the engine. A panel of dark color is particularly sensitive to the sun's rays. If the garage is facing direct sunlight, it is advisable to place an awning (or other barrier against the sun) above the door to reduce the sun's negative impact on the panel. Garage doors that are installed near sea water must be rinsed with fresh water on average every 3-4 months. If the panel is scratched and the protective varnish is removed, salt will accelerate rusting and damage to the panel (cracking, twisting, etc.) is possible.

Lubrication

As a rule, garage doors do not need to be lubricated (especially not with grease because it collects dust on itself). It is best, depending on the amount of dust in the garage, to clean the guides with a damp cloth from dust and dirt and spray them with silicone spray. Repeat the same with the hinges at the panel joints and the wheels at the ends of the panels. The creaking, "squeaking" of the door is not a sign that the door is defective.

Balance

In order for the door to work for a long time and safely, it must be in balance. Doors that are out of balance and jam as they go up and down can cause wear and tear. What does that mean? When you buy the garage door from the engine and lift it about 1 meter from the floor, the door should remain in that position.

The chain drive motor should be periodically lubricated with silicone spray. Keep the engine away from water and moisture. Avoid frequent opening / closing of the door several times in a row (unless the motor is not for intensive use). Unplug the motor in case of severe storms and lightning strikes. Protect the remote controls from falling, water and high and very low temperatures.

Do not wear them with other hard and sharp objects on the pendant. Keep a record of annual services and your engine will run long and safe.

Consumable parts of the door (wheels, hinges, springs, cables ...) can create certain safety problems for you and your tin pet if the door is not serviced regularly ... (e.g., cracking of the spring can cause the door to fall ...). It is very important to have the service done by authorized persons once a year. Do not try to tighten, repair, release the springs on the door as they may crack and cause material damage or worse, injure you. Be responsible, remember that garage doors are still a hanging burden in your garage.
